Save $2.6 billion and help some polar bears

Update: This alert is now expired. Thanks to everyone who took action! You can take action on current alerts from our homepage.

While polar bears approach endangered status and you and I are paying over $3 a gallon at the pump, oil companies should be last in line when it comes to government handouts.

But if the Senate passes the horribly named “American-Made Energy and Good Jobs Act” already passed by the House of Representatives, we will give the big oil companies tax breaks estimated to be worth at least $2.6 billion and allow those same big oil companies to drill in our last pristine wildlife refuge.

Nothing like paying to destroy our own heritage!

Fight Puppy Mill Cruelty

Update: This alert is now expired. Thanks to everyone who took action! You can take action on current alerts from our homepage.

It’s hard to believe that certain things happen in the United States. One of those things is the existence of puppy mills. In puppy mills female dogs are housed in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions often without adequate food, water, veterinary care or socialization. They are caged their entire lives and bred at every opportunity until they are no longer physically able to reproduce. Then, after the mothers are no longer profitable, they are commonly killed or abandoned.

Thankfully, Pennsylvania governor Edward Rendell has taken an important step in cracking down on this industry in Pennsylvania (the puppy mill capital of the east). If we take notice and applaud his efforts, perhaps other leaders all across the nation will follow in his footsteps

Please click here to sign a petition thanking governor Rendell for doing the right thing.
