Manatee Protections Erased to Please Developers

Wow. So manatees are protected because they are endangered. But developers don’t like these protections because it means when they undertake projects around manatee habitat they have to take certain precautions.

So U.S. Representative Adam Putnam added an amendment to a recent bill to exclude the endangered manatee from protections under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. If passed, projects that would likely hurt or kill manatees will be able to move forward with little or no caution taken on behalf of manatees.

The Putnam amendment is headed for the Senate but we can stop it from passing!  Please sign this petition to stop the exemption!

The fur is going to fly after you read this! While the label on your scarf, shirt or jacket may not say anything about containing fur products, the fact is several animals may have been killed and skinned to make it.
