Standing up against power

Tell your House member: stand up to the most powerful special interest.

Before a drug is approved, companies test it on just a few thousand people for a short time. After it hits the market, millions of people begin to use it regularly and at that point the drug makers and FDA may learn far more about its side effects, but they don’t effectively inform you.

Last week, the New York Times editorialized, “The F.D.A. currently puts far more money and staff into approving new drugs than it does into monitoring them after they are on the market, and it lacks the legal authority to do much about hazards discovered at that stage.”

You can help right now. Drug safety reform has already passed the Senate and The House of Representatives will consider similar reforms this month. The Consumers Union needs your help today, please tell your House member to support this bill!

George W. Bush has a plan.

He wants to radically escalate gas drilling in Wyoming’s Upper Green River Valley. Not such good news if you’re one of the elk or pronghorn that make the southern Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem your home.

But…. the Bush Administration cannot act until it collects comments from citizens like you. This is where you come in!

Click here to tell the Bush Administration’s Bureau of Land Management to choose the conservation alternative for management of the Upper Green River Valley.
