Causes of Global Warming You Can Put a Stop to

Global warming doesn’t have to lead to the eventual demise of the world as you know it. There are many causes of global warming that you have the power to put a stop to just by making simple changes in your everyday life.

Car Pollution

Do you know how the mere use of cars and other motorized, gas-powered vehicles can lead to global warming? The way car engines work requires your car to release carbon emissions every time you step on the gas.

In 2008 alone, over fifty million of cars had been produced. This doesn’t count the number of cars that had been produced the year before that and the other year before or the years to come. All these cars result into producing 1/3 of the world’s total carbon emission level.

There are, however, a number of things you can do now to change what’s happening. Walking, skating, biking – all these activities allow you to get from Point A to Point B without causing pollution and, consequently, global warming. More importantly, these activities can also serve as exercise as well, and that alone has several benefits for you to enjoy.

Living in the city, however, makes it occasionally impractical not to use your vehicle when you have somewhere to go. But there are still a number of ways you can still help protect the environment from the harmful effects of global warming. With car pooling, you reduce the number of cars that are on the road and can cause pollution. You could also consider commuting instead of using a private car all the time.

Carbon Emissions from Airplanes

At present, airplane fuel consumption is only responsible for 5% of the world’s overall levels of carbon emissions. But this figure is expected to balloon to 15% in the next few decades. You can do your part now by reducing air travel and instead increase your use of virtual communication.

Building Maintenance

Believe it or not but there have been studies that show various activities related to building maintenance may be held responsible for 12% of overall carbon emission levels. But again, you can do something about this by making a conscious effort to live in and patronize only facilities and establishments that implement environmentally friendly practices for their development and maintenance.

Be a Role Model

By introducing vital changes in your life and letting people know what’s happening and why it’s important to act now, your actions can eventually lead to a domino effect that could drastically alter the world’s outlook of the future. Global warming may be a threat today but it doesn’t have to stay like that.
