FINANCIAL
Every April 20% of proceeds is donated to an environmental organization in honor of Earth Day.
How long have you been doing these activities?: 2005
Why did you implement them?: I was raised an environmentalist before I ever heard the word. My parents were born during WWII in Italy and waste was not an option. We were raised to conserve and reuse everything. The more I learned about the impact humans were having on our planet, the more passionate I became about caring for it and this passion comes out in every aspect of my life, including my business.
How hard were these actions to implement?: Not very. There are a lot of eco-friendly options available to businesses now. And our policy of reusing and re-purposing material for shipping has actually saved us money.
What was the result –Financial/Bottom Line, Environmental, Good Will, etc.?: We keep chemicals and waste out of the environment. The extra costs of some things is canceled out by the savings. Healing Anthropology has been featured on treehugger.com as well as other green media outlets and has also been awarded a Beauty With A Conscious Award for its Eco-Friendly Practices.
Do you have any advice for other small to mid-sized businesses who want to “Go Green”?: Start with cutting waste, it’s the easiest and most cost effective way to go green.
